What Is acupuncture?  It's a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been used in humans and animals over thousands of years to treat a variety of problems, including pain, arthritis, heart, lung, kidney, digestive, hormone, allergic, reproductive and mental illness.  Acupuncture points are specific spots on the body surface where a practitioner applies stimulation by inserting a sterile needle for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.  Each point has a unique location and physiological effect.  Case studies have shown that acupuncture can enhance your dog's comfort, emotional stability and overall health.
Acupuncture is a very safe medical procedure when administered by a qualified practitioner.  Very few negative effects have been found in clinical cases.  Each session may take 20 to 45 minutes; the first session usually takes longer than follow-up appointments.  Some results can be seen immediately but others will require several treatments.  Generally a minimum of 3 to 5 treatments 1-2 weeks apart for chronic conditions are needed before one can except improvement.
Clinical trials indicate that acupuncture therapy can be effective in the following conditions :
  • Musculoskeletal problems: muscle soreness, back pain, osteoarthritis, and degenerative joint disease.
  • Neurological disorders: seizures, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), laryngeal hemiplegia, and facial and radial nerve paralysis.
  • Gastrointestinal disorders: Diarrhea, gastric ulcers, colic, vomiting, constipation, and impactions.
  • Other chronic conditions: anhidrosis, heaves, asthma, cough, uveitis, renal failure, chronic liver disease, behavioral problems, infertility, Cushing's disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, geriatric weakness, and skin problems.
  • Quality of life, maintenance and enhancement, and hospice care.

If there is an emergency during normal business hours please give us a call.  However if your emergency happens to take place after hours we refer to
Fort Worth Animal Emergency Hospital.

They are open 24/7.
Phone: (817) 263-2900
Fax: (817) 263-2901
Address: 4631 Citylake Blvd West
 Fort Worth, TX 76132

Hospitalization

We offer (day) hospitalization when needed for our patients.  This could mean your pet was admitted into the hospital for observation for the day.  The reason we refer to it as day hospitalization is that we do not have the staff to stay after hours.  This is based differently on each case and in more serious cases we may refer your pet to the emergency hospital for overnight care.  While your pet stays for the day he/she will be placed in their own kennel and monitored closely by the veterinarian and technicians.  Additional to your pets stay they may also receive medications prescribed by the doctor or fluid therapy.  Please feel free to call us at anytime to check up on your pet and we promise to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Jolie is such a good patient we used her twice!

Laboratory

With our in-house laboratory the veterinarians are able to quickly diagnose a few conditions like ear infections, urinary tract infections or diabetes.  We collect samples including blood, ear swabs, fecal or urine to help us determine a proper diagnosis.  In some cases we may send samples off to our reference laboratory if more testing is required.

Radiology

Picture
Radiographs are extremely useful in veterinary medicine.  We perform an x-ray test that is non-invasive and provides us with a diagnosis and sometimes treatment to the medical condition.  They can let us evaluate the lungs, bones, heart and other organs by using radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body.  They can give us information on fractured bones, presence of tumors, heart problems and foreign bodies.  Our digital x-ray equipment makes the process painless with results in minutes.  X-ray imaging has been around since the 1800's making it the oldest and most used radiologic testing.

Ultrasonography

Medical ultrasound (also known as diagnostic sonography or ultrasonography) is a diagnostic imaging technique based on the application of ultrasound. It is used to see internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs. Its aim is often to find a source of a disease or to exclude any pathology.
